Tom Lindsay & Michael Eck: Home

ParkDuo

Tom Lindsay and Michael Eck have been performing Historic American Music together for over 25 years. Their personal appearances are marked by a warm camaraderie and a genuine joy in keeping such great music alive.

The duo offers a variety of all-acoustic, family-friendly one-hour programs, accompanying themselves on guitar and mandolin with occasional flourishes of dobro, ukulele, autoharp and banjo.

Each show is well-researched and illuminated with interesting facts about the songs, the original performers and the historical context of the music.

In addition to their lives as musicians, Lindsay teaches a music history course and Eck is a nationally-respected music writer. Each exciting, fun program reflects Lindsay and Eck’s fascination with the myriad sounds and styles of American folk music as first recorded in the early 20th century. But instead of a scratchy 78 rpm disc, your audiences will experience the thrill of the music firsthand. And thanks to what folklorist Alan Lomax called “the deep river of song,” no two performances of any program are exactly alike.

Tom Lindsay and Michael Eck arrive as a self-contained unit, with their own public address system, requiring only a small staging footprint and a single electrical outlet. They have performed in venues ranging from concert halls and cafes to historical societies, museums and libraries, every time leaving the audience with smiles on their faces and a song in their heart.

All of the programs offer audiences of every age the opportunity to laugh, learn and sing along.
